"Virginia gentlemen" lived in a very nice plantation and were highly educated. Owned slaves and had balls and danced. Held political parties. -Billy	Very inaccurate maps. Lewis had not experienced the high education and wealth that Jefferson and his peers had. His education had basically only included math, grammar, natural science, and Latin. Jefferson had balls, slaves, and wealth. His lifestyle included horseback riding and hunting. -Yeahwon	People in 1803 had very little and innacurate ideas of the west frontier. They thought that the California was an island and that the Rocky Mountains were narrow and undaunting.
